The ValueStar® motto is "only
the best pass the test"® and most companies applying
to use the ValueStar® symbol cannot achieve it. The
goal at ValueStar® is to provide you, the consumer, with the
most accurate and useful customer satisfaction rating system available.
ValueStar® accomplishes this goal by identifying companies
with satisfied customers and then collecting and distributing
accurate, unbiased information upon which the buying public can
rely. ValueStar® never permits a company to use their
symbol without passing stringent rating tests. To ensure the integrity
of ValueStar's ratings, the Public Research Institute of San Francisco
State University and the Consumer Law Project of the University
of Houston Law Center audit ValueStar's telephone survey results.
Each company who applies for ValueStar certification must
pass tests in the following areas:
Step #1 Customer Satisfaction
Step #2 Complaint Bureau Status
Step #3 License Verification
Step #4 Insurance Coverage Verification
Those companies displaying the ValueStar®
certified symbol have scored very high in customer satisfaction
and have passed every step of ValueStar's® strict four
step rating process. Each Service Provider earning the ValueStar®
Certification must undergo a re-rating every 12 months. Service
Providers that do not pass in any subsequent re-rating must immediately
cease use of the ValueStar® Certified symbol.
